Jane C. Vale, 91, of Wade Drive in Greenville, died Thursday in the Heritage Hills Nursing Center, Smithfield. She was the wife of the late Robert C. Vale.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late William and Grace (McLaren) Babcock. She had lived in Greenville since 1963. She was a 1946 graduate of Cranston High School and graduated from the Catherine Gibbs School in Providence. She had attended CCRI having earned several food safety certificates in the RI Department of Education, Office of Food Services, Nutrition Education and Training Program. She had worked for the State of RI at the Smithfield Senior High School for over 20 years before retiring.
She was a member of the Greenville Baptist Church and Rhodes on the Pawtuxet. She loved traveling, camping and the beach. She volunteered for the Greenville Baptist Church coffee hour and thrift store. She had spent many hours volunteering at various soup kitchens and food banks throughout the State of RI. More than anything she enjoyed her family and was a devout mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She leaves her children, William Vale and his wife Joanne of Warwick, Richard “Ricky” Vale of North Scituate and Kristen Adams and her husband Timothy of Greenville. She also leaves 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Virginia Adams of Pensacola, FL. She also leaves her son-in-laws, Michael McDonald of West Warwick and David Scopelliti of IA. She was the mother of the late Virginia “Ginny” McDonald and Catherine Scopelliti and sister of the late Robert Babcock and Mary Babcock. She was the step-daughter of the late Florence (Vale) Babcock.
Her funeral and burial were private. A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
