Frederick A. “Dyna” Bodge 78, of Buzzards Bay, and a former longtime resident of Medway, died peacefully, Saturday March 28, 2020 at Milford Regional Medical Center following an illness. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Lynch) Bodge, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage.
Born December 10, 1941, in Milford, he was raised by the late Fred Bodge and Florence O’Leary. He was educated in Franklin, where he was a graduate of Franklin High School Class of 1959. He also attended Coyne Electrical and Technical School, Fitchburg State College and the University of Massachusetts.
Upon relocating to Medway in 1971, he started Bodge Electric; he was a licensed electrician in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Always wanting to give back he taught his craft at Minuteman Regional Vocational Technical High School, King Philip Regional Vocational and Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational.
Fred was the former Wiring Inspector for the Town of Medway, a Deputy Wiring Inspector, Town of Millis, was a member of the Municipal Electrical Inspectors Association of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association, a member of the Massachusetts Vocational Association and a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System.
A devoted family man, he treasured spending time with his family, snowmobiling, and old cars. Dyna was a founding member of the “Red Devils” car club.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Pamela S. Fortunato and her husband Russell of Florida, Ann-Marie Rice and her husband John of Tennessee, Joseph T. Bodge and his wife Amy of Blackstone and Thomas F. Bodge and his girlfriend Cheryl Corson of Blackstone.
Also surviving are his cherished grandchildren, Grace A. Bodge, Chelsea Rice Obermeyer, Katrina Rice, Shandi Fortunato, Kiefer Fortunato and Braden Fortunato.
He was the brother of the late James Redpath, Albert Bourbeau, Ernest Bourbeau and Lois Hyldburg.
Due to the current restrictions on public gatherings, a private service with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, Medway will be held Saturday April 4th.
A public Celebration of “Dyna’s” Life will be held at a later date and will be announced.
