CHICOPEE – Matthew P. King, 38, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, March 28, 2020. He passed into Eternal Life from his beloved home in Chicopee surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Springfield on August 12, 1981, a beloved son of Donald J. King and his wife, Ollie King of Southwick and Louise M. (Banister) King and her partner, Paul M. Soja, of Chicopee. He was raised and educated in Chicopee where he lived his entire life. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a self-employed landscaper in the area. With Matt’s helpful nature, many of his customers became longtime friends that he would go out of his way to do anything for. During his leisure time, he enjoyed NHRA Drag Racing, fishing, WWE wrestling, go carting, motor bikes, campfires, tinkering around his home with various projects, and most especially spending time at the family cottage in Middleborough, MA. Matt will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he leaves his loving sister, Melissa R. Motta and her husband, Giuseppe, of Saugus, MA; his cherished niece, Adalina Rita Motta; his best friend, Daniel Greenwood; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and numerous friends. He also leaves his cat, Sage that he cared for and loved so very much. He was predeceased by his loving mémère, Rita M. Banister who was Called Home on May 14, 2018. His funeral will be private.
