Christopher Ryan Mckay, 35, of Billerica – Christopher “Chris”, a young man who was always smiling, passed away on Monday, March 23 at Boston Medical Center after a long battle with heart disease.
Chris was born in Long Beach, CA, He was adopted by his father, John, and raised and educated in Billerica, MA, with his four siblings. Chris loved being outdoors no matter the weather. Chris enjoyed snowboarding in the winter and spent most of the summer fishing and camping with his father & siblings. He always said he was happiest sitting around a campfire with family and friends listening to music and laughing. He was looked up to by his niece Sophia, whom he taught to ride a bike; and his nephew JJ, who will learn about him through memories shared.
Chris was a carefree soul, with contagious laughter. His sense of humor was just one of many amazing qualities, always joking, always brightening up any situation. He was very protective of his siblings, and would do anything to keep them safe.
Chris is the beloved son of John McKay of Billerica. Chris is the loving brother of Ashley McKay, Amanda McKay, Michael McKay and Brian McKay. He is the adored uncle of Sophia & Justin Jr. Proud grandson of Nancy Gunther, and the late Fred McKay. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins & friends.
It was Chris’s wish to be remembered with a smile and laughter, not tears and sorrow.
In lieu of funeral arrangements, there will be a Celebration of Life in Chris’ honor when it is safe to do so.
