Alice H. “Penny” Mims, 65, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, March 27, 2020, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Monday, March 30, 2020, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, with Pastor Jack Fields officiating.
Mrs. Mims was born November 21, 1954, in Tift County, Georgia, to the late Cleon Holton and the late Alice Gibbs Holton Champion. She earned her nursing degree from Ben Hill-Irwin Tech and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Tift Regional Hospital and Dorminy Medical Center. She also worked at the Care Clinic. She was a very caring person and was a member of Callie Garbutt Baptist Church.
She is survived by a granddaughter, Rainee Holton of Fitzgerald; siblings: Russell & Mary Bryan of Ocilla, Joanne Hogan of Tifton, Patsy & Winston West of Tifton, Cherlene Holton of Holland, Michigan, Cathy & Stanley Holmes of Beaumont, Texas, and Terri Estes of Gray; as well as very special friends, Renee & Charlie Krause of Hazlehurst. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Mims; a daughter, Lori Holton; and two brothers, Bobby Bryan and Larry Bryan.
