Thomas F. "Tom" Doherty, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Monday, March 23, 2020 at his home in Charlestown. He was 71 years of age.
Tom was born in Boston on June 28, 1948, a son of the late Edward J. Doherty and Eleanor (Birmingham) Doherty. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1966. Tom entered into the United States Army on June 24, 1968 and served his country with honor and courage during the Vietnam Conflict. He was discharged on January 26, 1970 with the rank of Specialist. Tom worked as a Computer Service Engineer in the computer industry for over 40 years, finishing his career with IBM.
Tom is the beloved husband of 39 years to Patricia Hally-Doherty. He is the loving father of Jack Doherty. He is the beloved brother of Edward J. "Eddie" Doherty, Becky Doherty, and Eleanor Sheridan and her late husband Hank. He is the brother-in-law of Janice Trafton and her husband Richard and the late Mary Kennedy. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Tom's Funeral Mass will be announced on a later date. There are no funeral home visiting hours.
