John Thomas Daly, Jr, “Jack”, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at the age of 67.
Jack was born August 31, 1952 in Fort Polk, Louisiana to John and Genevieve Daly. The family relocated to Somerville, MA where he spent his youth and graduated from Somerville High School in 1970. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and reached the high honor of Eagle Scout.
Jack attended Northeastern University and received his degree from Emmanuel College. He joined The United States Coast Guard and served for twenty-two years, retiring honorably as First Class Boatswainsmate and had served as Officer of the Day, Point Allerton Station, Hull, MA. He began his career at Commonwealth Electric in 1971 and was in his 49th year of employment with continuous tenure, currently as a Senior Safety Consultant at Eversource.
Jack was a longtime resident of Plymouth, MA. He was a member of the Plymouth Country Club where he spent many years playing golf. He was a proud member of the Krewe of Carrolton, New Orleans and participated for 25 years as a dedicated member of the parading Krewe which he enjoyed with family and friends.
He is survived by his mother, Genevieve Daly of Somerville, MA; his wife, Dora Daly (Manghis) of Plymouth, MA; his son Michael Daly and his wife Alexandra and grandson, Brooks Thomas, with his second grandchild on the way, of Plymouth, MA; his daughter, Alessandra Daly and her longtime partner Joseph Re of Plymouth, MA; his stepson, David Manghis and his wife Sarah of West Chazy, NY; his stepdaughter, Julia Manghis and her longtime partner Benjamin Cibotti of Brighton, MA; his sister, Sharon Wollman and her husband Bruce of Somerville, MA and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father, John Thomas Daly, Sr.
Anyone who knew Jack knew he was a man with a big heart and would do anything for anybody. He enjoyed life to the fullest and believed family was what mattered most. He quite literally had a larger than life personality and an infectious smile and laugh that touched everyone he met. Most dear to his heart was spending time with his loved ones grilling in his back yard and making memories with family and friends.
