SOUTH HADLEY – Ellen A. (Barthelette) Blanchard, 90, of South Hadley, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, March 22, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born at home on Prospect Street in Chicopee on September 25, 1929, the beloved daughter of the late Henry F. and Angelina (Boulerice) Barthelette. She was raised in Chicopee and moved to South Hadley in 1956 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who showered her family with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gerard R. Blanchard who was Called Home on October 1, 2002. They were married at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee on April 15, 1950 and were blessed with over 52 years of happiness together. She leaves her four loving children, Gerard H. Blanchard and his wife, Lucille, of Wales, PA, Donna A. Cummings and Bruce E. Blanchard and his wife, MaryAnn, all of South Hadley and Brian R. Blanchard and his wife, Julie, of Ludlow; and her many cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her two dear brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry Barthelette and his wife, Evelyn “Dot”, and Albert Barthelette and his wife, Florence. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 17, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (Please note that the Church services are limited to 40% capacity, face masks must be worn and social distancing must be observed). Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Patrick Cemetery, 168 Fuller Road, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
