Richard A. Knipe, 79, of 551 Chandler St., died Wednesday, Feb. 8, at home, after an illness.

He was born, July 30, 1926, the son of the late Raymond and Grace (Armstrong) Knipe. Mr Knipe graduated from Commerce High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving in WWII. After the war, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mechanic. He was an avid golfer, who was happiest on the green with his clubs. A family man, he always put his family before himself. He was a member of Bedrock Country Club.

He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Marion (Holmquist) Knipe, his four children, Carla Ryder and Sharon Sansoucy both of Lakeville, Howard and his wife Dianne Knipe of Princeton and Karin and her husband Mark Freeman of Rutland; seven grandchildren, John D. Ryder, Jr., Jeffrey R. Ryder and Heather L. Sansoucy all of Lakeville, Tara A. wife of Jason Hancock and Kimberly A. Freeman both of Worcester, Kara G. Knipe of Ashburnham and Howard W. Knipe, Jr. of Princeton; twin brother, Raymond Knipe of Millbury and two sisters, Evelyn Lange of Berlin and Gwendolyn Michelson of Florida and nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Feb. 11, at 1 p.m. in Greendale Peoples Church, 25 Francis St. Visiting Hours are Friday, Feb. 10, from 4 to 8 p.m. At LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Butler St.
