Obituary

Glen Chandler O'Blenes, Jr., 22 of Londonderry, NH, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2006 at his home in peace and comfort, surrounded by his family and closest friends following a courageous two-year battle with osteosarcoma. He was born in Winchester, MA on December 7, 1983 but grew up in Londonderry. Glen was extremely active in many sports but his passions were soccer and snowboarding. He was proud to have earned his black belt in karate along side his father, Glen Sr. Glen was a graduate of Londonderry High School, Class of 2002, and was a journalism student at Emmanuel College in Boston prior to his illness. During his illness Glen continued to educate himself by reading numerous books on World history and World religions. He also enjoyed painting, writing and making those closest to him laugh at his quick-witted humor.

He is survived by his parents, Glen C. and Joni (Call) O'Blenes of Londonderry, his sister, Marissa O'Blenes of Dover, NH, paternal grandfather, Richard A. O'Blenes of Woburn, MA, maternal grandmother, Beverly Call of Londonderry. He is also survived by five aunts, Patti Doyle and her husband Joseph of Woburn, MA, Lori Maynard and her husband John of New Britain, CT, Diane O'Blenes of Woburn, Karen O'Blenes of Woburn, Judy Raduazzo of Woburn, four cousins, Maxwell Maynard, Kathryn Doyle, Joseph Doyle, John Maynard II and also by many friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Shirley O'Blenes and his maternal grandfather, John A. Call, Jr.

His family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Mass General Hospital who were involved in his care, especially Dr. David A. Harmon and Jill Nelson, RNP. Your continued sense of hope and constant devotion helped give Glen the peace he so bravely earned.

Memorial calling hours were held from 12-4pm, Saturday, February 11, 2006 in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A celebration of Glen’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Mass General Hospital Cancer Center-Sarcoma Fund, Development Office, 165 Cambridge St., Suite 600, Boston, MA 02114.
