Vincent J. “Vinny” DeVito, age 81, of Bridgewater, died March 5, 2020 at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Vinny was the husband of Anne M. (Brophy) DeVito. Born, raised and educated in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Leone and Maria (Defabritis) DeVito. For many years Vinny worked at BF Goodrich in Watertown. He served in the US Army in Germany and for over 19 years was a Federal Technician in the Army National Guard. He served with the 101st Field Artillery Boston and Massachusetts Military Academy Bourne, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer.
Vinny enjoyed gardening and took great pride in the numerous flower beds and vegetable gardens in his yard. He also enjoyed cooking, woodworking, watching the National Geographic channel and playing cards. He made many trips to Foxwoods, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Vinny is also survived by his children Jeannie King and her husband Hank of Holliston, Diana Foley and her husband James of Dennis, James DeVito and his wife Barbara of Reading and his stepson Darryl Brophy and his fiancé Kim Von Iderstein of Middleboro. He was the grandfather of Lauren King, Harry King, James Foley, Jessica Foley, Spencer Foley, Gregory DeVito, Jeffrey DeVito and Alexis Brophy; brother of Eleanor Ottaviano of Waltham, Edith Lamberts of Kennebunkport, ME, Emily Stanziani of Winchester, Mary Roach of Danvers and Margaret Stephens of Winchester. He was the uncle of several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Friday, May 8, 9-11am followed by a funeral service at 11am. Private burial to follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Donations in Vinny’s name may be made to the American Lung Association, 1661 Worcester Rd., #301, Framingham, MA 01701
