Barbara J. (Paquin) Briggs, age 78, 0f Norton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her adoring family on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Norwood Hospital in Norwood.
Born in Goffstown, New Hampshire on December 10, 1941, she was a loving daughter of the late Joseph and Gloria (Burleigh) Paquin.
Barbara grew up in Henniker, New Hampshire and was a 1961 graduate of Henniker High School, where she excelled in basketball. Prior to retiring in 2018, she had worked as an assembler for the Dynisco Corporation in Franklin and had previously been employed at the Elkim Company in Franklin and when younger for Sylvania in Hillsboro, New Hampshire.
A resident of Norton for the past fifty-one years, Barbara’s family always came first, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her day. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, quilting, crocheting and being a talented professional seamstress. She was also an avid Red Sox fan and her other interests included reading various novels.
She is survived by her devoted children Kevin S. Briggs and his fiancé Julie Farretta of Norton and Kim M. Gomm and her husband Thomas of Norton. She was the cherished grandmother of Elizabeth Jennings, Jonathan Briggs, Kari Briggs, Kristen Columbo, Erik Briggs, Joshua Godfrey, Rachel Gomm, and the great grandmother of Isiah, Ethan, Aidan, Bradley, Bryce, Brady and Oliver. She was the dear sister of Elizabeth “Betty” Wilson of Attleboro, Suzanne Grimaldi and her husband Alan of Loudon, New Hampshire and the late Joseph Paquin and Lawrence Paquin. She was the longtime companion of the late William Salley and the former wife of Frank Briggs. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews, including some in the Michigan area.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a graveside funeral service on Thursday, March 19th at 12:00 P.M. at the Timothy Plain Cemetery, 175 Plain St., Norton.
Funeral home visiting hours have been omitted.
