Milam Wilson Wheeler, 79 of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday March 12, 2020, at Pruitt Health in Ocilla, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Monday, March 16, 2020, at Central United Methodist Church in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. B.J. Funk and the Rev. Dr. Richard Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, Georgia. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, from 6 PM until 8PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Ms. Wheeler was born October 1, 1940, in New Jersey to the late Clarence Gordon Wilson & Milam Anderson Wilson. She graduated from Habersham Central High School. Ms. Wheeler took piano lessons as a child and started playing at Ebenezer United Methodist Church at the age of 10. She worked for Y & W Sportswear, Fitzgerald Underwear and for the Ben Hilll County Pre-K as a parapro. Ms. Wheeler was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Fitzgerald where she played the piano and she enjoyed working in the kitchen during Vacation Bible School.
She is survived by her children: Neida & Jim Owens of Fitzgerald and Robert Wheeler of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Ben Owens of Riverside, California, Seth Owens of Fitzgerald and Zach Owens of Tucker and a great-grandchild Ellie Rose Owens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carol Wheeler and a brother Benny Wilson.
