Minnie Louise Pittman Benson, 95, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at home surrounded by her family. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mrs. Benson at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. The Rev. Steve Hand will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday, March 13, 2020, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Wayne Benson, Mark Benson, Wes Benson, Cole Benson, Andy Eason and Gilbert Gallimore will serve as pallbearers.
Born September 20, 1924 in Birmingham, Alabama, Mrs. Benson was the daughter of the late Emory Coleman Pittman and Havana Gibbs Pittman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Benson; one son, Larry Benson; two brothers, Wallace Pittman and Bud Pittman; and two sisters, Willamae P. Dickens and Flora P. Nesmith. She retired from Fitzgerald Underwear and she was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Benson is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Tommy Benson and Wayne and Jody Benson, all of Tifton; a brother-in-law, Harold Benson of Tifton; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Pittman of Moultrie; four grandchildren and their spouses, Mark Benson (Juanita Yates), Wes and Katie Benson, Lee and Andy Eason and Cole and Julia Benson; and seven great-grandchildren, Amber and Alee McBrayer, Andrew Eason, Brad, Kaylin and Abbi Benson and Ella Benson.
