Clayton Leon Layfield, 41, of Rochelle, Georgia, died Saturday, March 7, 2020, at his favorite place, Florence Marina State Park in Omaha, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Central United Methodist Church in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dr. Richard Wright and the Rev. David Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Christian Home Cemetery in Wilcox County. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Clayton was born January 13, 1979, in Cordele, Georgia, to the late Robert Harris “R.H.”, Sr. and Daisy Mae Stubbs Layfield. He was a 1998 graduate of Wilcox County High School as well as the Nashville Auto Diesel College in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was in the Top 10 of his class. He worked in logistics for Premium Peanut in Douglas. Clayton was an avid outdoorsman and had a passion for hunting and fishing. He was happiest while being outside in God’s creation. He attended Central United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Aimee Martin Layfield of Rochelle; his son, Blaine Lucas Layfield of Rochelle; three brothers and their spouses: Robert H. Layfield, Jr. & Wanda of Rochelle, David Michael Layfield & Mindy of Rebecca, and Cecil Lee Layfield & Christi of Rochelle; mother-in-law, Jerrie & Avery Tanner of Fitzgerald; father-in-law, David & Jolie Martin of Finleyson; brother-in-law, Jeremy Martin of Fitzgerald; as well as several nieces and nephews.
