FALL RIVER – Gilberto P. Vieira, age 83, passed away on March 7, 2020 at St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Maria Luisa (Aguiar) Vieira. Born in Vila Franca do Campo, São Miguel, Açores, he was the son of the late Urbano and Balbina da Conceicão (Bento) Vieira. Gilberto loved to work in his garden, fishing, making wine, spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was also a huge Sporting Fan. Prior to retirement he worked for Parcella Brothers for many years.
Along with his wife he is survived by his children Helena Furtado (husband Jose) of Fall River, Delia Cruz (husband Michael) of NY, Anne Vieira of Fall River, Gilbert Vieira (wife Natalia) of Fall River and Elizabeth Caldwell (husband Kevin) of MI; siblings Fatima Sousa (husband Virgilio), Rosaria Vincente (husband Jose), Conceicão Ponte (husband Antonio Jose) and Ana Pacheco (husband Jose) all of Canada; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his brother Urbano Vieira.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Thursday here at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial St. Michael’s Church at 10 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Calling hours on Wednesday from 4-8 P.M. www.rogersfuneral.com.
