Obituary

Margaret (Peggy) Elizabeth (Joyce) Chase, 80 a resident of Whitman for 57 years, passed away Tuesday evening at home surrounded by her loving children.

Born in 1939 in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Coleman and Barbara (Williams) Joyce. She was the devoted wife of 55 years to the late William F. Chase, Jr.

Peggy was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, neighbor and friend. She was considered the matriarch of the family sharing a legacy of love, laughter, good cheer and a lifetime of fond memories of family gatherings held at Aunt Peg’s where country music was always playing. She will forever be remembered for her grace, kindness, compassion, humanity and gentle spirit. You could always count on her to sit with you and enjoy a proper cup of tea.

Peggy is survived by her loving children, Holly, William (Billy) and long-time girlfriend, Jean Marie LaFrance, Gregory Chase and his wife Laura and her much beloved grandchildren Olivia and Harrison Chase all of Whitman, Massachusetts. An avid animal lover, she also leaves behind her rescue Collie dog, Gracie. She was the sister of the late Evelyn “Chum” Nauyokas, Barbara “Patsy” Breinlinger, Pauline Hench, Claire Hanscom and brothers Terrance, Richard, James, Gerard, Vincent, Joseph and Clement Joyce.


Her funeral services will be held on Monday March 9th at 8:15AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9:00AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visitation will be on Sunday March 8th from 3:00-6:00PM.
