Richard Allen O'Brien, 80 of Medford, died Saturday February 29, in the Winchester Hospital.
Born in Everett, and raised in Malden, he was the son of the late James and Katherine (Green) O'Brien. Shortly after graduating high school Richard decided to serve his country and join the United States Air Force. After being honorably discharged, Richard began a career in public saftery with the Revere Police Department, retiring after 25 years. After retirement, Richard and his beloved companion Brenda (Toppi) Lynch of 30 years, decided to buy a condo in Florida. He loved to travel to Florida and enjoyed playing golf in the warm sun of the sunshine state. Richard and Brenda would spend 4 months of the year down in Florida and in his more recent years he would travel himself to spend 6 months down in Florida.
Richard was the beloved companion of 30 years to Brenda (Toppi) Lynch. He was the loving father of James and Jacqueline O'Brien and the late Richard O'Brien, and the dear grampy of Johnna and Richard Lynch, John, Derick, Richard, Matthew and Danielle O'Brien, and great grandfather of 4. Devoted brother of James O'Brien, Gerry Murphy, Barry O'Brien, Edward O'Brien and the late Stephen O'Brien. Also survived by many loving nieces and newphews.
