On Friday, February 28, 2020, Edward ”Edso” X. Mahoney of South Boston, Ma. passed away suddenly at the age of 68.
Edward was born on June 15, 1951 to Edward and Eleanor (Santry) Mahoney also formerly from South Boston, Ma. He worked as a self employed private contractor who took pride in hard work and exceeding peoples expectations. On July 3, 1970 he married former wife Eileen(Nee) Mahoney. They raised their daughter Kerry, and sons Edward and the late Patrick.
Edward had a passion for recovery. He enjoyed attending meetings and helping as many people as he could. He was an avid beach goer and loved listening to music. He was known for his infectious smile, his kind humble manner, and compassionate spirit.
Edward is survived by former wife Eileen Mahoney, loving father of Kerry Marrocco, Edward X. Mahoney Jr, and the late Patrick X. Mahoney. Cherished brother of Sheila Kelleher and Kathleen Daggett. Loving Papa to Jul-Marie, Siobhan, Patrick, Danielle and Nicole. “Big Papa” to great grandson Colin Patrick. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He will be forever missed by many.
Services will be held from 12pm-3pm on Saturday March 7, 2020 at Casper Funeral Home. Friends and Family are all welcomed. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Edwards name or to the Gavin Foundation in South Boston. Interment services will be private.
