Obituary

Joseph Eugene Langlois, 73, of Fairhaven died February 29, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospital after a courageous 14 year battle with Multiple Myeloma.
He was the husband of Janet (Tavano) Langlois with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Joseph Leo and Mildred P. (Flood) Langlois.
He graduated from New Bedford High School, where he played on the soccer team, UMass Dartmouth and Northeastern University.
Mr. Langlois was employed at Taunton State Hospital where he worked for 49 years as a licensed mental health counselor.
He was very involved in community organizations and was president of the Fort Taber - Fort Rodman Military Museum as well as the New Bedford Civil War Round Table and volunteered at the Seaman's Bethel. He was president of the St. Lawrence Martyr Conference of the St. Vincent dePaul Society and was awarded the Marian Medal for service to his church and community. He was a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick.
Mr. Langlois loved his job at the Taunton State Hospital and wrote a book "A Brief History of the Taunton Lunatic Hospital."
He loved life and his family and cherished every moment. He will be missed.
Survivors include his loving wife; four daughters, Sandra Langlois of Danvers, MA, Suzanne Langlois and Sarah Langlois, both of Fairhaven, and Christine Ricardo and her husband Gil and his daughter Alyssa, all of New Bedford; and 2 grandsons, Kyle and his fiancée Chelsey and Zachary.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 7th at 9 AM in St. Lawrence Church. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 6th from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joseph's memory may be made to Fort Taber - Fort Rodman Military Museum, 1000c Rodney French Blvd, New Bedford, MA 02744.
