Obituary

Lyle G. Rasicot, 93 of North Attleboro formerly of Franklin , died February 28 in Landmark Hospital Woonsocket. He was the husband of the late Mary Carmel (Sullivan) Rasicot for 68 years until her death in 2014.

Born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, March 10, 1926, the son of the late Frank and Clara (Gohr) Rasicot, Mr. Rasicot led an eventful life from growing up on a dairy farm in Idaho, working in the oil fields of Calgary, and being one of the pioneering skiers at Alta.

He enlisted in the Navy at the age of 16 years old and served as tail gunner on Douglass Dauntless’ and Curtis Helldivers off the carrier USS Barnes in the South Pacific in various major battles of the War including Tarawa, the Gilbert Islands & Luzon.
He then served in the Army during the Korean War in the Counterintelligence Core in Germany.

Lyle received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and a Master’s Degree from Xavier University.

Lyle worked for 20 years in various senior industrial affair positions for Diamond Match, Firestone, Fairbanks Scale and General Signal.

He left industry in 1974 and with his wife ran Franklin Florist and Greenhouses and Mix to Match Home Decorator Center in Franklin until 1987.

He was a proud member and past president of Rotary International for over 30 years.

He retired to Florida from 1988 to 1999 and then spent the rest of his life in North Attleboro.

He loved his family above all else, friends, traveling and camping.

He is survived by his sons, Patrick Rasicot and his wife Patricia of Cumberland, Rhode Island and Brian Rasicot of North Attleboro.

He was the father of the late, Frank Rasicot, Michael Rasicot and James Rasicot.

He is also survived by his daughter- in laws, Katherine Rasicot, Susan Rasicot and Marcia Rasicot.

He was the brother of the late Florence Gaumer, Lynn Rasicot and Ray Rasicot.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Andrea and her husband Scott, Bridget and her husband Matt, Drew and his wife Kim, Colin and his wife Mallika, Ashley and her husband Garrett, Lyndsey, Thomas and Julie and his great-grandchildren, Nathan, Colton and Avery.

His funeral services will be private with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Franklin.
