BAR MILLS / Sanford- Russell L. Appleby, 67, passed away peacefully on February 27th 2020 at SMHC in Biddeford Maine, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Russell was born on July 7th 1952 at Saco hospital in Saco Maine. He is predeceased by his parents George and Gloria “Wallace” Appleby and brother Terrance Rholoff. Russell married the girl of his dreams, Kelly Ritchie in 1978. Together they raised their two daughters Denise Bernius and Krista Appleby.
Russell grew up in Bar Mills and was a great friend to many who knew him. He was full of mischievousness and shenanigans. Russell enjoyed telling his many life stories to his family and friends. He had a deep pride for his family and loved them with all his heart.
Russell graduated from Bonny Eagle H.S. Is 1972. He worked at University of Southern Maine, FairChild/National Semiconductor, Idexx Laboratory, as well as being a caretaker at Tory Hill cemetery.
Russell was the official taste tester for his wife Kelly's many wonderful deserts. In addition he enjoyed listening to music of the 60s. His favorites being The Beatles and The Dave Clark 5. He also enjoyed watching TV and movies with his family. Russell enjoyed camping, family gatherings, and his two Grandsons.
Russell is survived by his wife Kelly of 42 years, daughters Denise Bernius, Krista Appleby and her spouse Nikki, sister Jean Appleby Her husband Jerry Harmon, Scott Appleby, Ron Appleby and his husband Eric Ducharme, and his two grandsons Jason and Alex.
A celebration of life for Russell will be held on March 20th and 21s 2020 at 43 Middle St, Sanford Maine. It is Russell's wish to not have a funeral but a happy celebration. Please wear plaid or flannel and bring stories to share. In lieu of flowers his family asks that a donation be made on his behalf to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
