Virjin A. Basmaji, of Andover passed away peacefully, Friday, February 28, 2020, at the Bear Mountain Nursing Home of Andover, following a short period of declining health. She was 91 years of age. Virjin was the beloved wife of the late Elias Basmaji. Born in Aleppo, Syria she was the daughter of the late Antoun and Fahima (Sarraf) Khorozian.
Virjin has been a fulltime resident here in the United States for the last seven years residing in Andover. She will fondly be remembered for her unconditional love and devotion to her family, her kind and gentle demeanor, and strong spiritual beliefs. She will be greatly missed by those she loved.
Virjin is lovingly survived by her devoted children; Georgette Gergo and her late husband Tony, of Aleppo, Syria, Nabil Basmaji and his wife Ann of Winchester, Tony Basmaji and his wife Toni of Andover, Mouna Touchan and her husband Nabil of Newmarket, NH. She was the loving grandmother of Louie Gergo, Mirna Haddad, Kinda Hardo, Christopher and Mark Basmaji, John, Basil, and Sara Touchan. She is also survived by ten loving great grandchildren. Cherished sister of Marie Yateem of Syria, the late Angel, George, and Joseph Khoroz.
A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 374 Main St., Wilmington, Monday, March 2nd at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family prior to the service from beginning at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Spring Grove Cemetery, Andover. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Virjin's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
