Obituary

CHICOPEE ~ Lucille M. “Lou” (Durand) Dietrich, 86, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, February 27, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at her daughter’s home in East Longmeadow surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on August 21, 1933, a beloved daughter of the late Theodore and Theresa (Joyal) Durand. She was raised and educated in Holyoke and moved to Chicopee in 1955 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was employed for over 40 years at the former Springfield Photo Mount. During her leisure time, she enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, arranging flowers and tending to her garden. She was a wonderful cook but enjoyed going out to eat and loved visiting Joanne’s Hot Dog Truck at the Home Depot in Chicopee that she always referred to as “The Truck”. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, William A. “Bill” Dietrich who was Called Home on August 17, 2012. They were married at Immaculate Conception Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 58 years of happiness together. She leaves her four loving daughters, Dolores Dube and her husband, James, of Chicopee, JudyAnn Perkins and her husband, John, of East Longmeadow, Jeanne King and her husband, Arthur, of Scottsdale, AZ, and Darlene Donze and her husband, Paul Donze, Jr., of Chicopee; her nine cherished grandchildren, Michael Dube and his wife, Kristen, Jennifer Dout and her husband, Robert, Kimberly Hudson and her husband, George, Matthew Perkins and his wife, Kerryn, Shana Marchan, Lauren Brown and her husband, Drake, Stefanie Donze and her fiancé, Keith Naumchick, Bryan Donze and Brittany Donze; her 11 cherished great-grandchildren, Brayden and Garrin Dube, Olivia Dout , Nicole Hudson, Evangeline and Franklin Perkins, Tyler, Jaylen and Briella Marchan, and Lincoln and Hunter Brown; her dear sister, Jeanne Brunetti of Chicopee; her three dear sisters-in-law, Eleanor Durand of Florida, Geraldine Durand of Chicopee and Helen Kuenzel of North Carolina; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Dietrich and Durand families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her four dear brothers, Theodore, Roland, Gerald and Paul Durand. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Saint Michael Church, 128 Maple Street, East Longmeadow, MA 01028. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery, 800 Montgomery Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
