Kurt Sanford, 36, of Ben Hill County, Georgia, died Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at his residence following a brief illness.
Graveside services will be held 4 PM, Thursday, February 27, 2020, at DeBerry Baptist Church Cemetery in Coffee County, Georgia, with the Rev. Jeremy Cox officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Kurt was born February 18, 1984, in Fitzgerald, Georgia. He earned his GED and a Bronze level certification for the Georgia Work Ready Program. He formerly worked for MDI as well as D.C. Construction as an HVAC engineer. He played guitar and enjoyed fishing. Kurt loved being with friends and family. He will be remembered as a free spirit who enjoyed making people laugh. He was a born again Christian and spent time reading and talking about the Bible.
He is survived by his mother, Tammy Carver Sanford of Broxton; his father, John Thomas Sanford of Fitzgerald; a step-son, Kayne Stone of Fitzgerald; a step-daughter, Kaylea Bass of Fitzgerald; a sister, Krista O’Neil & Robert Murphy of Fitzgerald; grandparents: Herman “Pete” & Mary Oden of Wray, Willie & Connie Carver of Brookfield, Joyce Paul of Fitzgerald, and Zeb Sanford of Americus; nieces, Diamond Murphy and Tamra Murphy; and step-siblings: Casey O’Neil of Savannah, Kayla Harrell of Savannah, Brittany Harrell of Fitzgerald, and William Harrell of Atlanta. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
