Frank Owens, 73, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, February 23, 2020 at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Owens was born September 5, 1946, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Thomas Bryant & Avis Lavelle Richardson Owens. He played baseball while attending high school and loved watching sports. He lived in the community all of his life and owned and operated Owens Paving Company. Mr. Owens enjoyed driving sports cars and will be remembered for helping people in the community.
He is survived by a step-daughter, Jessie & Wesley Hudson of Fitzgerald; two step-grandchildren: Madison Carver and Zachary Carver; two sisters: Barbara Bridges of Cordele and Eva & David Jackson of Austell and a brother Donald Owens of Wilcox County. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mandy Owens; two brothers: Gerald Owens and Wayne Owens and two sisters: Gracie White and Glenda Peters.
