Catherine Flora (Donati) Caggiano died on Friday, February 21, at home in Melrose surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Duilio and Aida (Petrino) Donati. Catherine enjoyed crossword books and spending time with her family, including her foster-grandchildren at St. Benedict School.
Catherine was the beloved wife of the late Andrew Caggiano, and the devoted mother of Catherine Silvio of Melrose and her late husband Mike, and the late Carolann Flaherty. She was the loving grandmother of John Flaherty of Medford, Diana Flaherty of Stoneham, Jennifer Venezia and her husband Craig of Wilmington, Michael Silvio Jr. of Melrose, Danielle Silvio of Reading and her fiancé Steve O'Keefe, Ashley Silvio of Melrose, and the late Michelle Silvio. Catherine was the loving great grandmother of Craig Venezia Jr., Jared Venezia, Matthew Miller, CJ and Cassidy Joyner, and the dear sister of the late Peter Donati and Valentina Walsh. She is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Benedict Church, 21 Hathorne St., Somerville, on Thursday, February 27 at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with family from 9 through 11 AM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Services will conclude with burial at Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Catherine's name to Massachusetts General Hospital, Development Office, 165 Cambridge St., Suite 600, Boston, MA 02114.
