Obituary

James T. Cosgrove, age 76, died February 16, 2020 surrounded by family. Jim was born in Boston on August 1, 1943, the youngest of four boys and the son of Martin and Mary (Harrison) Cosgrove.

Jim was enrolled in the first graduating class at Catholic Memorial High School in Boston. He was on the CM high school baseball team, played second baseman and was the lead-off hitter. He loved to tell stories of how important his baseball days were to him. After high school, James joined the US Navy where he served with VF-31, the Navy’s second oldest Air-Wing, on board the USS Saratoga CV60. He spent most of his successful career at Cambex Corporation as a Field Service Engineer. Jim traveled for work throughout the US as well as many business trips overseas including London, Germany and Finland. A hard worker to the core, many times Jim would work all night in order to get a job done. His extensive travel schedule enabled him to take his wife and three daughters on many of his business trips during school vacations and summer months. Jim loved to work with his hands and was especially talented when it came to working on cars and anything electrical in the home. Before Jim became ill, he would love to “stop by” with no notice (which included a 3 hour drive) to visit with his grandchildren. Watching sports with his son-in-laws also gave him great joy.

Jim is survived by his 3 daughters and their spouses, Cheryl and husband Eric of Franklin, Susan and husband Scott of Bridgewater and Deanna and husband Tyrone of Medway; 11 grandchildren; Arielle and husband Trevor, Alexandra and husband Curtis, Eric, Angela, Anthony, Anna, Natalie, Cassidy, Ronan James, Troy, Brooks and his great-grandchild, Hudson. He also leaves brother Paul and wife Terry and beloved sister in laws, Jacqueline and Francis, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers John and Joseph.

Private services for James’ family will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the American Cancer Society can be made at www.cancer.org.
