Vera Sue (Jones) Stennis, 79, of Anderson died February 19, 2020 at Community Hospital after a brief illness.
Vera was born March 25, 1940 in Talladega, Alabama, the daughter of William L. and Catherine (Chapman) Jones. She enjoyed watching sports, casino, fishing and doing word search puzzles.
She is survived by her three children, Anthony (Melva) Stennis; Vickie Stennis-Archey, Vonda (John) Clemons; siblings, Louise Williams, Ruthie Jones, Ralph (Maggie) Jones, Roberta Johnson; eight grandchildren, Antonio, Uri, Amar, Atriche, Dalika, Nigel, Aspen and A'Nell; seven great grandchildren; several special nieces and nephews.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, D.V. Stennis.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, February 21, 2020 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. Marty Davis of Second Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour before the service Friday.
