Robert W. Chase, 65 of New Bedford died February 14, 2020 at Boston Medical Center after battling a long illness.
He was the loving husband of Bernadette Dompierre-Chase.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Edwin C. and Edith L. (Lawrence) Chase, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was formerly employed by Chamberlain Corporation before becoming a commercial fisherman.
Bobby enjoyed singing his favorite songs and he loved his Corvettes. He was a New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. Bobby also loved being around his family.
Survivors include his wife; 3 sons, Robert Chase, Jr. and Brandon Chase, both of New Bedford and Wayne Harris of Fairhaven; a daughter, Christy Chase of Fairhaven; 2 step-sons, Nicholas Dompierre of Florida and Jordan Dompierre of New Bedford; his siblings, Melvin Chase, Manny Chase and his wife Barbara, Danny Chase, Debbie deMelo and her husband Manny, Judy Luiz, and Caroline Weeks; his grandchildren, Zoey, Tori, Brittney Chase, all of New Bedford, Kendall Chase of Fairhaven, Ethan and Payton Chase of Fairhaven and Indy Lo Dompierre of New Bedford; a dear friend, Barbara Harris of New Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Michael Chase, Ernie Tavares, Gilly Martin, Barry Martin, and Ronnie Martin, and his dear friend and captain on the F/V Patience Tommy Quintan.
His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd at 2 PM at the Hope Evangelical Church, 88 Hathaway Rd., Dartmouth. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Hope Evangelical Church.
