Robert F. Kelly, 66, of Dartmouth died Sunday February 5, 2006 at home after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was the husband of Elaine M. (Martin) Kelly.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the son of the late Prescott and Marion (Rose) Kelly, he lived in Dartmouth for many years.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in South Dartmouth, where he served as an usher.
Mr. Kelly worked for many years in the electrical supply business at Mendell Electric and later at Baynes Electrical Supply. He later became Branch Manager for Baynes & Jones Electrical Supply in Middletown, RI. He was a former co-owner of Economy Liquors in Fall River for many years.
He enjoyed traveling to Florida every year, spending time with his wife, family and friends, and occasional trips to Foxwoods. In his youth, he enjoyed swimming at South End beaches in New Bedford.
Survivors include wife; two daughters, Carolyn M. Higgins, and her husband Mickey, of Groton, Mass., and Mary Ellen Kelly of Middleboro; two stepsons, Jeffrey A. Montigny, and his wife Diane, of Fall River, and Kenneth M. Montigny, and his wife Heidi, of Fairhaven; a sister, Elaine Hardy, and her husband Hudson, of Mattapoisett; seven grandchildren, Ian, Alexander, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Jonathan, Logan and Julianna; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford,Thursday February 9, 2006 at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday February 8, 2006 from 4-8 PM. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven.
