With loving memories, we announce the passing of Joyce Minshew Bishop, a loving wife, mother and grandmother (Mema). Joyce passed away in her home February 14 with family and friends by her side.
Joyce was born in Fitzgerald July 12,1930 to Ruby and Edney Minshew. Upon completion of school, she married her high school sweetheart, Howard Bishop, also of Fitzgerald. They were married for 69 years and Joyce worked by his side many of those years, on their small farm and at their local “Bishop Grocery” store. In 1964-1987, Joyce was employed by General Telephone Company and retired as the assistant operator services manager for the South Georgia district.
Known for her love of flowers, Joyce had the natural talent of floral arranging and landscape design. Her yards, filled with blooms and textures, were always picturesque with many varieties of flowers. Joining the garden club, she learned and shared ideas with friends, of which was such a joy to her!
Those who knew Joyce best, knew of her love for her family. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Howard. Joyce’s beautiful life will forever be cherished by her children and their spouses: Robert & Gayle Bishop of Orlando FL, Brenda & Dan Alford of Roswell GA, Eddie & Ludell Bishop of Winder GA; her seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and her brother Quinton Downing and his wife Kathie who live in Fruitland Park FL.
Please join us in a Celebration of Life on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at Pine Level United Methodist Church.
