TAMWORTH ----- Daniel “Danny” W. Benson, Jr., 78, of Tamworth Road passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Maine Medical Center, Portland, ME.
Danny was born June 28, 1941, in Malden, MA. The son of the late Daniel Warren Benson, Sr. and Bernice (Horsford) Benson, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1960-1966. Following his return from Guam, Danny worked as an Architectural Design Draftsman and created designs for several buildings in and around New England. Danny enjoyed watching sports, playing bingo and being together with family. Spending time with his only grandchildren Briley Mae and Beckett Ryan Ames gave him great joy.
Danny is survived by a large extended family including his three children, Ryan Benson of Gilmanton IW, Devon Ames and her husband Eric of Tamworth and their children, and Lauren S. Benson and her fiancé Alfred Myers of Gilmanton IW. Danny was the oldest of five children. He held dear his relationship with his sister, Janice and husband Gerald Daigle of Derry and sister, May and husband Ronald Fournier of Hampstead, along with many nieces and nephews. Danny was predeceased by his brothers, Stephen Benson of ME, and Ronald Benson of MA.
There will be no calling hours.
Burial will take place in the spring at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
