SWANSEA - Barbara A. (Silvia) Taylor, formerly Mendonca, age 68, of49 Peach St., Swansea, died Sunday at Miriam Hospital, Providence, R.I. She was the wife of the late Gilbert Taylor. She is survived by: One Daughter: Donna M. Medeiros and her husband John M. Medeiros of Seekonk, MA., One Son: David Joseph Mendonca and his wife Cheryl A. Zuber-Mendonca of No. Dartmouth, MA., Good Friend: Peter Aubut of Swansea, MA. and Two Step Grandchildren. She was also mother of the late Don J. Mendonca.
Born in Fall River, MA., the daughter of the late Manuel Silvia and the late Evelyn A.(Tafe) Silvia. She was a Swansea resident for most of her life. Before retiring, she was a Jewelry Carder at A&Z Chains and at B.A. Ballou & Co. She was a current member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, Post # 303 for 23 yrs. She was an active Secretary for the A.A.R.P. She was a member of the Swansea Council on Aging Cribbage League, and a member of the Royal Travelers. She was also a member of the Somerset United Methodist Church.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 No. Main St., on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. with services in the funeral home. Internment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Swansea. Calling hours Wednesday 5-8 P.M.
