Joan F. Sweezey (McGuinness), age 85, of Hanover passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020. Daughter of the late John and Louise (Shaw) McGuinness. Joan was born in Boston then raised in Wollaston and graduated from Quincy High. She settled in Weymouth where she resided for most of her life raising her five sons. Joan was property manager for Finnell Properties in Weymouth for fifteen years and also worked at various banks in the Columbian Square area. She loved gardening and spending time with her grandkids.
Joan is the mother of Jeffrey Smith of Maryland, Robert Smith of Florida, Ronald Sweezey Jr. of Weymouth, Todd Sweezey of Braintree, and the late Brian Smith. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and her dear siblings Richard McGuinness and his wife Irma, Thomas McGuiness, and Ellen Ewen and partner Dennis and her previous husband Ronald Sweezey. She was predeceased by her brothers John McGuinness Jr. and George McGuinness.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Joan on Monday, February 17, 2020 from 5-7pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. There will be a graveside service for Joan in the Lakeview Cemetery located on Pond St. in S. Weymouth at 11am on Tuesday morning.
