Margaret (Glenane) Scully entered into eternal rest on February 11, 2020. Born on May 13, 1925 in Galway, Ireland, she was the loving wife of the late John Scully, whom she married on September 22, 1949. In October 1962, they came to the United States with their four young children, living first in Dorchester, where two more children were born, and eventually settling in Winchester.
Margaret’s family was the center of her life. She created a warm and loving home, where family, friends and neighbors were always welcomed. Her table was always set for a cup of tea and a slice of her famous Irish bread. She was a woman of great faith, whose rosary beads were never far from her hand. For many years, she was a daily communicant of Saint Mary’s Church, and she dearly loved the late Fr. Dick Messina and her church friends. For the last several years, she lived in Norwood under the loving care of her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Stephen Costello. She will be sadly missed and held in cherished memory by her children; Maureen P. Rafferty; John Scully and wife, Mary; Gerard Scully and wife, Anne; Margaret Costello and husband, Stephen; Kathleen Scully; Kevin Scully and wife, Tracy. She was the beloved “Nanny” of 12 grandchildren, their spouses and significant others; Sean Rafferty and wife, Nicole; Julie Scully; Jennifer Greenslit and husband, James; Jacqueline Scully; Margaret Brown and her husband Joshua; John Costello and Ben Woolston; Erin Nee and her husband, Kellen; Kathleen Costello and Alex Berg; and Kevin Costello; Brendan, Casey and Shane Scully. She is also survived by four great-grandsons; Colin and Sean Rafferty, Wesley Brown and William Nee, and her many honorary grandchildren, especially Michael Morris and Meghan O’Leary. Margaret also leaves her dear sisters Sister Mary Damien Glenane S.A. and Mary Theresa Glenane.
