Anne Fitzgerald Taylor, 73, of the Owensboro community in Wilcox County, Georgia, died Saturday, February 8, 2020, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Owensboro, with the Rev. Craig Barnette officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 Monday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald as well as one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Ms. Taylor was born October 30, 1946, in Owensboro, to the late Norman M. & Dare Gibbs Fitzgerald. She was a 1964 graduate of Wilcox County High School and attended South Georgia College in Douglas. She was the office manager for The Herald-Leader in Fitzgerald for over 25 years. Ms. Taylor was an avid Wilcox County Patriots and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets fan. She was a very dependable person who loved her family dearly. She was an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she served as church clerk and participated in many of the ministries offered there.
She is survived by a daughter, Donya Roberts Tomberlin of Rochelle; a son, Raymond C. “Robby” Roberts, Jr. and his wife Susan of Ben Hill County; six grandchildren: SSgt. JohnMarcus “J.T.” Tomberlin, Tyler Tomberlin, Abbigail & Braden Roberts, Anna Roberts, Amanda Roberts and LCpl Jefferson Roberts; one great-grandchild: Leila Tomberlin; a brother, Doster Fitzgerald of Owensboro; and two sisters: Ethel “Nink” Fitzgerald and Ginger & Lamar Whitley, all of Owensboro.
