FALL RIVER – Fernanda (Carreiro) De Melo, 92, of Fall River, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020 at St. Anne’s Hospital. Born in São Roque, São Miguel, Açores, Fernanda was the daughter of the late Jose Carreiro and the late Ana (de Jesus) Carreiro. She was also the beloved wife of the late Eduardo De Melo.
Prior to retiring, Fernanda worked as a Housekeeper for Charlton Memorial Hospital and the former Union Hospital. She was a member of the Evangelical Church, Rodman St., Fall River.
Fernanda is survived by her 3 daughters & 4 sons. Ana Rodrigues, Rose Sousa, husband Jose, Naomi Maria De Melo Braga, husband Arthur, Duarte De Melo, wife Liontina, Emanuel De Melo, all of Fall River, Samuel De Melo of Westport, Daniel De Melo, wife Geraldine of Fall River, and the late Liliana De Melo; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. Fernanda was also predeceased by all of her brothers & sisters.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Friday, Feb. 7th here at 9 A.M. followed by a Funeral Service in the Evangelical Church, 1240 Rodman St. Fall River at 10 A.M. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery.
