Joseph Bowie “Bo” Gray, III of Cobb County, Georgia and formerly from Tifton, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020. He was born on January 22, 1986, the son of Joseph B. “Joe” Gray, Jr. and Jane Little Gray.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Ann Gray Gorman (Sean) and niece, Erin Claire Gorman of Athens, Georgia; his maternal grandmother, Belva Little of Sylvester, as well as many cousins, an uncle and aunt and many close friends.
Bo graduated from Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville with a Bachelor of Business degree. He attended Tift County High School. Upon graduation from college, he began a career in the property and casualty insurance business, working in Gray, Tifton and Atlanta.
Bo was fun-loving and had an adventurous spirit. His energy was contagious and people around him drew from it. He loved the outdoors and found contentment in being in nature, whether with his hunting buddies or in solitude. He spent as much time as he could at the farm, each Fall erecting deer stands and planting feed plots. He loved to fish in ponds and in the Gulf of Mexico with his friends. Bo enjoyed sports. He was a good tennis player and loved running the trails along the Chattahoochee River near his apartment. Aside from his personal hobbies, Bo was a devoted friend to many. His kind heart, gentle ways and easy-going personality travelled with him. Bo was a committed Christian. After moving to Atlanta, he regularly attended a neighborhood Protestant church in Smyrna.
He was a kind soul and will be missed by many.
Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Tifton at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 5, 2020 with the Rev. Chip Grantham officiating. Following the service, there will be a reception in the Social Hall.
Austin Vowell, Ben Hudson, Josh Bowen, Alan Manning, Ryan Taylor, Bryant Hill and Reece Kinney will serve as pallbearers.
