Mollie Stokes Daniels, 84, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Sunday, February 2, 2020, at Pruitt Health in Ocilla, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at Brushy Creek Primitive Baptist Church, in Irwin County, with Elder Travis Fussell and Elder Jimmy Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Brushy Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Daniels was born December 9, 1935, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late Murphy Day & Annie Laura Irwin Stokes. She graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1955. Mrs. Daniels was a homemaker and also kept the books for the family farm. She enjoyed being a mother, wife, and Grammy. She loved to cook, bake and share with everyone. She will be remembered for her Christmas goodies. Mrs. Daniels was a member of Brushy Creek Primitive Baptist church, where she served as cemetery caretaker for many years and led the bereavement committee.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Jean Whitley & Kell of Ocilla; two grandsons: Kellton Gene Whitley and Lonnie Dean Whitley, both of Ocilla; and a brother, Johnny & Jan Stokes of Fitzgerald. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Lonnie Gene Daniels; a son, Murphy Daniels; a grandchild, Daniel Aaron Whitley; two sisters: Grace Jette and Clara Prescott and a brother, Murphy Hugh Stokes.
