Obituary

LOWELL—James J. Ahearn, 61 years old, a resident of Lowell, died Saturday afternoon at his home in Lowell.

He was born in Lowell, on October 6, 1940, a son of the late Herbert L. and Rita F. (Boyle) Ahearn, and was graduated from Lowell Public Schools, Lowell High School and Northeastern University, in Boston, where he received a scholarship to play football.

Mr. Ahearn had been employed as a Driver by the D.J. Reardon Company, and held membership in the Teamsters Local #49. More recently he was employed as a Security Guard by the Reliable Security Company, of Salem, NH.

Surviving him are twelve brothers and sisters: Joan Simpson, of Deerfield, NH; Marylou Prescott, of Chelmsford; Barbara Gagnon, of Chelmsford; Regina Oteri, of Lowell; Gail Thompson, of Stewartsville, MO; Patricia Carl, of Plattsburg, MO; Edward W. Ahearn, of Somerset; Marie Lessard, of Kingston, NH; Rita DeVincentis, of Pepperell; John “Timmy” Ahearn, of Chelmsford; Daniel Ahearn, of Lowell; and Bernard Ahearn, of Farmington, NH; also many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Frederick G. and Herbert L. Ahearn.

Friends may call on Tuesday, July 9th, from 4 to 8 PM at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). His Funeral Mass to be offered Wednesday, July 10th, at 10 AM at the ST. MICHAEL’S CHURCH, Lowell. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell.
