Rebeccah Singedas Lasta Alli, of Ventura, CA, died in her home, surrounded by her family on January 23, 2020, at the age of 86.
Rebeccah is survived by her husband, Jim Alli of Ventura, CA, and her daughter, Sonja Alli-Casella of Glendale, CA; her 2 grandchildren, Lucas and Mateo Casella of Glendale, CA; her niece Rachel Malalis Mendoza and nephew-in-law Oseas Mendoza of Victorville, CA; her grandnephews Oliver Mendoza of Victorville, CA, and Orville Mendoza of New York, NY; her niece Beulah Sullano Bilbao and nephew-in-law Julius Bilbao of Victorville, CA; her nephew Dan Malalis and niece-in-law Emilyn Malalis of Victorville, CA; her nephew Reuben Malalis and niece-in-law Zaida Malalis of Highland, CA; her nephew Alger Lasta and niece-in-law Lerma Lasta of Victorville, CA; as well as numerous other beloved nieces and grandnieces, nephews
and grandnephews, and cousins in the Philippines and throughout the world. Rebeccah is preceded in death by her parents, Pablo Lasta and Anastacia Singedas Lasta, and her brothers and sisters, Pacifico Lasta, Rustico Lasta, Rosalia Lasta Malalis, Olegario Lasta, Filomena Lasta Dichos, Federico Lasta, Deborah Lasta Sullano, and Cristino Lasta.
The youngest of 9 siblings, Rebeccah was born on August 2, 1933, in Pana-on, Misamis Occidental, Mindanao, Philippines. She was a pioneer student of Mountain View College, and graduated from Philippine Union College (now Adventist University of the Philippines) in 1957 with a baccalaureate degree in commerce. After her father died in 1963, she immigrated to the United States, and lived in East Los Angeles. She worked as an accountant at several businesses, including White Memorial Medical Center, where she met her husband, Jim, a
physical therapist. They married in 1971 and moved to Ventura, and had 1 daughter.
Rebeccah worked as an accountant and auditor for the County of Ventura until she retired in 1995.
Also known as Becky, she was a dedicated member of the Ventura SDA Church for many years, serving as the church treasurer, singing in the choir, and bringing her many delicious dishes to potlucks.
Rebeccah passed away in her home after a long, courageous struggle with dementia and residual effects of stroke. She will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity, and brilliant laugh. Special Thanks to the dedicated staff of Assisted Home Health & Hospice, as
well as her diligent caregivers, Jenny Fajardo and Mark Gunida.
Family and friends are invited to attend Funeral Services to be held at the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street Ventura on Thursday, February 6, 2020; viewing is from 9:00 - 10:30am and memorial service is from 10:30 - 11:30am, with Pastor Keith Mulligan officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Carpinteria Cemetery following the service.
Reception will be held at the Ventura SDA Church Fellowship Hall.
