FALL RIVER – Edmond W. “Mickey” Antaya Jr., age 88 and a lifelong resident of Fall River, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 28th at home after a lengthy illness. Born in Fall River, Edmond was the husband of the late Dorothy (Borges) Antaya and the son of the late Edmond W. Antaya Sr. and the late Lillian (Landry) Antaya.
Prior to retiring, Ed worked as a Meat Cutter for Stop & Shop. He was a longtime parishioner and lector for Espirito Santo Church, a member of the Prince Henry Society, RI Chapter, and an avid Duck Pin Bowler at the former Dukes Bowling Lanes on Sanford Rd., Westport.
Survivors include his 3 children: Ronald P. Antaya of Fall River, Catherine J. Antaya of Assonet, and Richard A. Antaya of Fall River; 2 siblings: Helene Majewski and George Antaya; 5 grandchildren: Stephanie L. (Antaya) Niewola, Danielle M. Lobo, Meghan C. Cuvellier, Matthew C. Cuvellier, and Alexandra J. Antaya; 6 great grandchildren: Christopher, Tyler, Sean, Skye, Corey, and Brianna; many nieces & nephews. Ed was also the bother of the late Ronald, Raymond, & Robert Antaya, and Irene Gonsalves.
Ed’s funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Friday, Jan. 31st with visitation from 9:00-10:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Espirito Santo Church, Alden St. at 11:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery.
