Margaret Loree Simpson, age 93, Kokomo, formerly of Anderson Indiana, passed away peacefully at Waterford Place early Saturday morning January 25, 2020 due to congestive heart failure. She was born March 30, 1926 in Akron Ohio, the only daughter of Ruby Ellen and Jessie James Hensley.
Loree graduated from South High School (Akron, Ohio) in June 1944 She was a violinist in the high school orchestra and loved playing sports. During high school, she worked for S.S. Kresge and after graduation played in the Akron symphonic orchestra.
In 1945 she moved to Anderson, where she worked for Arrow Pontiac. There she met and married her best friend and love of her life Earl P. Simpson, on November 18, 1950. They were married for nearly 59 years. He preceded her in death in 2009.
After marriage, Loree was a homemaker. She loved people and spent most of her time serving family, friends and those in need. Her hands were rarely still. Loree volunteered in several organizations to benefit the local community. She was a Christian who loved the Lord. She taught Sunday School starting from youth and was an officer and vocalist in Eastern Star. She was a leader for Bible Study Fellowship and President of Tri Kappa.
Her life was a living example of Ephesians 4:32. “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another just as God also forgave you in Christ”. She played golf and tennis. She enjoyed painting and raising flowers, especially pink roses.
Her favorite bible scripture was: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path."
Loree is survived by her daughter, Nancy L. Myers, and son, Phillip (Heidi) Simpson.
She has five grandchildren, Jessica (Randy) Blanton of Alexandria Indiana, Trent (Jody) Hitchens of Clarksville Tennessee, Jacob Myers of Anderson, Indiana, Luke Simpson, of Lafayette, Indiana and Zac Simpson of Carmel, Indiana. Her brother Bruce (Madonna) Neff of Anderson, preceded her in death. She has several nieces, nephews and great grandchildren whom she loved deeply.
Visitation is from 1:00 pm until 3:00pm Sunday, February 2nd, 2020 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service in Anderson, Indiana. The funeral service will immediately follow. Dr. William Salsbery will officiate. A private burial service will be held on Monday February 3rd, at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Please feel free to join the family in celebrating her resurrected life.
In lieu of flowers, Loree requested that any memorial contributions be made to one’s own favorite charity.
