Al Mimande, 78, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020, after a lengthy illness. He was the devoted husband of Melanie (Morgan) (Reid) Mimande. They had been married for 33 years.
Born in Providence, Al was the son of Marie Rose (Marcotte) Mimande and Thomas Henry Mimande. Having grown up in Warwick, he lived most recently, for 33 years, in Chepachet. Al had been a supervisor at Brown and Sharpe.
Al enjoyed camping, boating and, most of all, playing keyboard music. He was an avid Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and Boston Bruins fan.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children: Kevin Mimande and wife, Melanie Jones Mimande, of Johnston; Alan Mimande of Johnston; Trudy Greene of Tennessee; his step-children: Cheryl Heroux of Foster; Elisa Reid of Putnam, Connecticut; Gordon Reid of Burrillville; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Al also leaves his sister, Theresa McCaughey of Warwick; his brother, David Mimande and his wife, Fatima, of West Warwick; and his brother, Ernest Mimande and his wife, Diane of Warwick. He is pre-deceased by his brothers Edward and Thomas.
