Peggy T. "Margaret" (Quirk) Jones 74, of Whitman, MA, beloved wife of the late Gary W. Jones for 47 years, passed peacefully on Wednesday, January 22 surrounded by her loved ones.
Peggy was an alumnus of Aquinas Junior College earning her AS degree and also a graduate from Quincy Nursing School. As a nurse, Peggy worked at many Boston and South Shore area hospitals throughout her career before retiring.
She was a member of the Holy Ghost Church, the Rosary Makers, the Carmelite 3rd Order, and the Ladies Catholic Guild.
Peggy was known for her Irish wit and enjoyed watching her beloved New England Patriots (especially Tom and Jules) cooking and baking, traveling from Newport, RI to Kennebunkport, ME, surfing the web for candy stores, and spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by her 5 children; sons Paul and his wife Kimberly (Lavigne), Kevin, Thomas, David, and daughter Kelli; her two loving brothers, Paul Robert Quirk of Brockton, MA and Joseph William Quirk Sr. of Cape Cod, MA; her 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Her services will be Friday January 31 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 9:00 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, 518 Washington Street, Whitman. A private burial will be held at a later date. By request all other services are omitted.
Family and friends are invited to attend a reception immediately following Mass, at the American Legion-Post 22, 33 Legion Parkway, Whitman.
In lieu of flowers, Peggy suggests memorial contributions to be made to; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105.
