Julio Cesar Martínez Nuñez, 75, of Lowell, passed away on January 16, 2020 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, after a long battle with pulmonary hypertension. Born in Cartagena, Colombia on October 17, 1944, he moved to The United States in 1980. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellín, Colombia and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Merrimack College in Andover, Massachusetts. Julio worked in the textile industry all his life and retired from Joan’s Fabrics in 1998.
He loved to spend time with family, watching sports, travelling, and a good party. Julio is survived by two ex-wife’s Marina Sanchez from Orlando, FL and Soledad Ochoa from Medellin, Colombia. He is also survived by six children; Amelia R. Martínez of Dracut, MA; Carlos D. Martínez and his wife Sandra P. Echeverry of Windham, NH; Victoria E. Martínez and her husband John O. Giraldo of Windham, NH; Claudia H. Martínez of El Doral, FL; Catalina A. Martínez of Quito, Ecuador and Andrea Martínez of Orlando, FL; five grandchildren; Shachie, Camila, Alejandro, Sebastian and Santiago and two great-grandchildren, Breanny and Leandro. He had one sister; Amelia Martínez, and six brothers; Jorge, Eduardo, Orlando, Jose M., Wilfredo, and Javier Martínez and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with our Dad’s request for simplicity, there will be no formal services or visiting hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass on Thursday, January, 23rd at 12pm (Noon) at Saint Mathew Catholic Church (2 Searles Rd, Windham, NH 03087).
