David P. Depina, 67, of New Bedford died January 19, 2020 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
He was the husband of the late Bernadette S. (Santos) Depina.
Born in Acushnet, son of the late John J. and Fulovia (Lopes) Depina, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was formerly employed by Shepherd Clothing for many years and later as a residential instructor at Chamberlain School.
Mr. Depina was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
He was a member and past president of the Third Generation Club and a member of the Verdean Vets Drum and Bugle Corps. He volunteered as a youth football coach for the YA Club and prison ministry.
Survivors include his son, David P. Depina, II of New Bedford; a daughter, LaShaan Depina of Dartmouth; 2 brothers, Richard Depina of Marion and Charles Depina of New Bedford; 3 sisters, Marion Oliveira, Jeanne Depina and Mary Depina, all of New Bedford; 2 grandchildren, Rachelle Depina and Elijah Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Preston Wayne Depina and the brother of the late John J. Depina, Jr.
His Funeral will be held on Thursday, January 23rd at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, January 22nd from 4-8 PM.
