Lilla Mae Burns, 93, of Palmer, Alaska, formerly of Tifton, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2020, at Tranquility Manor in Palmer, Alaska. A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Burns at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2020, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. Mrs. Burns will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on February 1, 2020, at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Born August 5, 1926 in Sylvester, Mrs. Burns was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Greene Barfield. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Tom Burns. She was a homemaker and a textile worker and she was a member of various churches from Tifton to Palmer, Alaska. She was an avid fisherman; loved camping, sightseeing, cooking and being with her family. She never met anyone she didn’t like. She was strong in her faith and was loved by all who knew her. She led a full life; never afraid to try something new. She will be soulfully missed.
Mrs. Burns is survived by one daughter, Joan Badgley of Palmer, Alaska; one brother, Troy Barfield of Bainbridge; four grandchildren, Travis Badgley, Samantha Johnston, Daniel Burns and Sarah Burns; and eight great-grandchildren.
