John W. Amaral 72, of Franklin, died peacefully, in his home, Friday Jan. 3, 2020 with family at his side, following a long illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Joanne G. (Pepi) Amaral, who died in 2010.
Born April 27, 1947, in Attleboro, a son of the late Antonio and Edna (Durant) Amaral, he was a former resident of North Attleboro, before moving to Franklin over 35 years ago.
He was raised and educated in North Attleboro, and worked as a network service engineer for Nortel Networks.
A proud American he served in the United States Navy, he attained the rank of SR and was honorably discharged in Oct. 1967
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, music, sailing, photography, all animals, including his dog's and Cape Cod.
John is survived by his children, Kristen I. Neal and her husband Michael of Charlton, Jennifer J. Hardiman and her husband Bill of Franklin, and John W. Amaral, Jr., of North Attleboro, sisters and brother in laws, Diane Gauthier and her husband Scott of Franklin, Carolyn Kizielewicz and her husband Jim of Lexington, his nieces, nephews and many friends.
Also surviving are his grandchildren, Connor, Liam, Logan, John, Jessica, Jonathan, Joshua, James, and Myka.
He was the grandfather of the late Joseph Amaral.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Thursday Jan. 9th, at 9AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Franklin at 10AM.
Interment with military honors will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.
